Jelly Roll Placemat
Create colorful 13" x 18" placemats with 2.5" jelly roll strips and cotton batting.
Once you've mastered this small project you can move on and make a large jelly roll rug.
Materials Needed
10 - 2.5" x WOF (With of fabric) strips from a jelly roll or cut your own 2.5" strips. You'll need a minimum of 10 yards.
10 yards 2.5" Cotton batting strip - a precut roll or cut your own from batting scraps.
If using scraps it is not necessary to join the strips BUT BE SURE TO have the pieces cut to 2.5" BEFORE YOU COME TO CLASS.
Good quality sewing machine thread that is of a coordinating color with your fabric.
A GROCERY STORE PAPER BAG OR A PAPER SHOPPING TOTE BAG
DO NOT BRING YOUR SEWING MACHINE - You'll use our class machines for this class.
IMPORTANT - BEFORE COMING TO CLASS
Before coming to class, join the ends of the 2.5"strips with a diagonal seam and press the seams open.
Then press thein half lengthwise.
